Definition: (1) Write Once Read Many: data storage device whose data cannot be changed after it has been recorded e.g. CD-ROM. * WORM devices which are reliable are regarded as archival processes. (2) Virus program which copies itself on an infected disk: it may do so until it fills all available space, so causing the system to crash. * So-called because it may be written in separate parts which can join up.
