virtual image

Definition: One formed by the divergence of light rays refracted or reflected from an optical system. * Where optical system gathers the diverging bundle of light rays from a subject and turns it into a divergent bundle: the image appears at the apparent source of the bundle. * Cannot be caught or projected onto screen e.g. image in mirror.
