Definition: Component that is carried on an expansion board and plugs into the mother board designed to carry out the computing needed for the monitor display. * It will usually carry a specialist video processor as well as dedicated video RAM: it makes all the difference to how quickly the monitor screen, particularly a very large one, re-draws and responds. * Also known as video adaptor, ~ board, display adaptor.
