tritone
Definition: (1) Photomechanical printing process using three inks to increase tonal range. * Used in high-quality print reproduction of photographs for books, posters etc. often with third colour being a metallic ink. (2) Mode of working in image manipulation software that permits printing of image with three inks, each with its own reproduction curves.
