tone-line

Definition: Type of print which shows boundaries or the borders between areas of different brightness, usually as bright lines, with other areas black. * Conventional techniques involve making high-contrast copies and printing out-of-register but that usually loses many of the boundaries. * Digitally, tone-line is simulated by the 'Find Edges' filter or equivalents.
