time-lag
Definition: Time interval between initiating an action and the action actually taking place e.g. (1) between shutter release and actual camera exposure or shutter run: can vary from a few milliseconds with mechanical shutter to several tenths of a second with auto-focus compact cameras; (2) between turning on a digital camera and its being ready to take pictures: can be as long as ten seconds; (3) between start of flash bulb exposure and the onset of useful light output (4) between the time a correction is made to a processing line and the correction taking effect e.g. drop in bath temperature below specification is corrected with extra heat which may take several minutes to return the working temperature to normal.
