Definition: (1) Adjustment about a horizontal axis -- i.e. change in elevation or looking downwards or upwards -- of a tripod head or other camera support. * The entire camera's orientation is altered. (2) Adjustment about a horizontal axis -- i.e. change in angle of elevation -- of lens or film standard on a view or technical camera. * The adjustment may be independent of the orientation of any other part of the camera * On the front or lens standard, usually serves to control placement or orientation of plane of best focus, and to set camera to Scheimpflug conditions.* On rear of film standard, usually serves to control shape of image, particularly to maintain verticals in e.g. buildings.
