Definition: Adjective: (1) ~ negative: one that is dense with silver or dye. * It has been greatly over-exposed and developed normally or heavily over-developed. (2) ~ emulsion: one of greater volume than usual e.g. used in holography, also nuclear physics. (3) ~ lens: one whose physical dimensions require that for computations the distance between the front and back surfaces must be accounted for. * A compound lens or group may also be treated as a single thick lens.
