swap file
Definition: Area of hard-disk used as temporary store of data during virtual memory operations. * Term generally used by Windows users. * Synonym: scratch disk. Stealing by any other name. Do not confuse swap file with a swipe file (an altogether much more interesting concept). If you didn't know it, a swipe file is a collection of other people's ideas (ripped from magazines, railway posters, cornflake packets) which a photographer intends to use as future inspiration i.e. to swipe.
