soft proof
Definition: Use of monitor screen to proof or confirm the quality of an image. * This assumes that the screen has been calibrated to produce an image that matches that of the printer to be used. Check or monitoring of reproduction quality or accuracy solely by assessment on a computer display. * In contrast with hard-proof: monitoring quality by printing out onto paper or other support.
