Definition: (1) Colour transparency mounted in a frame, ready for projection. * Hence colour slide. (2) Accessory device which allows two pieces of equipment to share a common position e.g. at the focal plane. * Consists of plate attached to camera so that plate carries e.g. view-finder on one side and on the other e.g. film-holder or digital back: you simply interchange the items by sliding them from side to the other.
