Definition: (1) Short-term drop in voltage levels from the normal operating voltage. * They are most often caused by an electrical device like a motor or compressor starting up.* If the voltage drop is below a certain limit, the device may malfunction e.g. a computer can crash. * Frequent sags reduce the lifespan of affected equipment. (2) Abbreviation for sagittal (see below).
