rewind

Definition: To spool or roll up film back into its cassette or container. * Applies mostly to 35mm film, in which the usual practice is to wind out the film from the cassette frame-by-frame: at the end of the roll, the film is wound back into the cassette. * Note: some 35mm and all APS cameras unwind the film out onto the take-up spool before the first exposure is made, then wind the film back as each frame is exposed.
