relay
Definition: Adjective: optical component used to gather light from one part of instrument to project it to another. (1) ~ condenser: in projectors, it improves efficiency by collecting the light from the bulb and focusing it onto the slide. (2) ~ optics: in a camera, it collects the image from a lens or focusing screen to project the image to the film or viewer. * Also known as optical relay.
