Definition: (1) Photomechanical printing process using four inks to increase tonal range: four half-tone screens are made at different angles. * Used in very high-quality print reproduction of photographs for books, posters etc. often with the fourth colour being a metallic ink. (2) Mode of working in image manipulation software that permits printing of image with four inks, each with its own reproduction curves.
