quad-speed drive
Definition: Type of CD-ROM drive that transfers data at 600K bits per second: this is four times more than the nominal standard. * Speed refers to rate of data transfer, not the rotation or even operational speed itself: quad-speed drives rotate less than 50% faster than double-speed drives while operational speed depends on access times which are difficult to reduce in the drive itself. * Speeds go up to 32X and more.
