Definition: Collection, analysis and use of data monitoring a production process for the purpose of maintaining the quality of the output e.g. that of developed film, printed materials, etc. * Control may be indirect e.g. adjusting humidity of printing plant, or direct e.g. adjusting replenishment of developer in a film processor. * Control may be continuous e.g. monitoring strength of developer or intermittent (batch by batch) e.g. measuring control strips.
