process colour

Definition: (1) Colour which can be reproduced with standard web-offset press inks of cyan, magenta, yellow and black. * Colours seen in a book or magazine are process colours except where they have been printed using special inks such as metallics or flourescents. * With introduction of six-ink printing, the gamut of process colours has been significantly enlarged. (2) A colour belonging to the set of four colours used in four-colour printing. * Also known as process ink.
