Definition: (1) Electrical apparatus used to control electronic flash units: usually carries condensers and control circuitry for modelling lamp as well as flash, usually powered from mains supply. * May be portable or massive and may be directly or indirectly connected to flash units. (2) More or less portable unit containing batteries and circuitry to adapt power for connected equipment e.g. digital or other camera, flash unit, etc.
