Definition: Substance that is (a) coloured and (b) insoluble. * Pigments are mixed with substrate materials to add colour to the substrate. * Used in thermal wax machines and a new generation of desk-top printers: the density of colour and minimal dot gain enable very high output quality to be achieved.
