passive AF
Definition: Passive auto-focus: type of auto-focus which relies on analysis of the image projected by a lens and which does not use a beam of light or ultra-sound to measure the object distance. * All single-lens reflex AF cameras use passive AF systems except in very dim conditions, in which case many emit a beam of short infra-red light to assist the passive focusing.
