parallel scanning

Definition: Method of scanning in which a line of detectors covering the length of one axis is swept along the other axis to cover the full area of the object. * It is the commonest way to implement scanning and is seen not only in flat-bed scanners but also scanning backs in cameras and other capture devices. * Also called pushbroom scanning.
