out-of-focus

Definition: Adjective: image which appears unclear, unsharp, lacking in because the lens is not at the correct distance from the film- or projection-plane for the distance between lens and subject. * Usually applied to a real image (i.e. one that can be caught on a screen) although it can equally apply to a virtual image.
