off-line

Definition: (1) Mode of working with data or files in which all required files are downloaded or copied from a source to be accessed directly by the user, without direct connection with the data source e.g. pages of web-site are viewed on user's computer with no connection to the web-site itself. (2) Separation of data analysis from data monitoring e.g. in production or process control. * This introduces a time-lag into corrective measures. * Antonym for both meanings: on-line.
