neutral density filter
Definition: Accessory used to reduce light intensity without changing colour balance of light: it reduces all visible wavelengths equally. * Filter made of glass, polyester or gelatin which is dyed or coated with neutral colour: used e.g. to allow large aperture to be set on a lens when fast film is used on a bright day. * Also known as a grey filter.
