moulded lens

Definition: Optical component, one or both sides of which are shaped under high temperature and pressure. * Formerly used for non-critical components such as lenses for condensers and viewfinders, particularly to create aspheric surfaces, but increasingly being used for photographic lenses thanks to ceramic moulds which reliably produce accurate aspheric shapes.
