Definition: In photography, a material used for anti-reflection coatings on lenses as it is almost colourless with a low refractive index of 1.38. * It is fairly tough and chemically stable. * Deposited on lenses by vacuum thermal evaporation or electron beam process to form coating of only a few molecules in thickness.
