Definition: (1) Appearance of colour that is seen or appears to be seen through another e.g. as seen in paints containing reflective particles and dyed plastics. (2) Glossiness or shine of polished surfaces. (3) Surface finish to printing papers which is intermediate between glossy and semi-matt.
