low-end
Definition: Type of equipment, production or implementation that is cheap, cheerful but serviceable (enough). It's all relative Low-end is more or less synonymous with entry-level, but still suggests that purchasers of such gear are trying to save money, rather than simply having little of it to spend (such people buy entry-level). And it all depends, of course: a low-end scanner to an amateur -- costing, say, less than a meal for celebrating something special -- is merely an over-sized door-stop to a pre-press professional.
