Definition: (1) Magnifier constructed on a stand which holds it at the correct height above the material being examined. * Quality ranges from simple positive lens or a flat-field, achromatic design. * Used to examine textile, print, photograph, film etc. (2) Software feature which shows a  portion of image magnified within a virtual loupe - typically at magnification of 100% or greater. * Not to be confused with zoom, which enlarges the whole image.
