layer mode
Definition: Image manipulation or processing technique determining the way that a layer in a multi-layer image combines or interacts with the layer below. * E.g. in normal mode, the upper layer covers the layer below; in darken mode, pixels are darkened only where the top layer is darker than the base layer. * Layer modes are calculated by the software by comparing values of corresponding pixels of the upper and lower (or receiving) layers and performing a calculation based on pre-programmed conditions.
