Definition: (1) Time interval between issuing a command or initiating an action and the action taking place. * E.g. shutter lag: the time between pressing a shutter button and the shutter run. (2) Light emission from a phosphor that continues after end of stimulation by energy. (3) The electric charge remaining on a camera tube or photo-detector after first being formed by the image -- which may run into subsequent frames or exposures. (4) Time interval between collection of data and the necessary correction having effect e.g. in controlled chemical processes.
