intermittent agitation

Definition: Circulation or mixing of processing chemicals which occurs at regular intervals through the processing cycle. * E.g. in film processing, a hand-tank is inverted, rotated and reverted five times every 60sec during development.* As opposed to continuous agitation, when the circulation takes place throughout the processing cycle in question.
