inter-line sensor
Definition: Type of CCD photo-detector in which the charge from an exposure is kept on the original detector before being shifted off for read-out. * Part of the CCD is masked off as the shift register: electrons trapped during exposure are shunted under the mask, so allowing the detector to be immediately usable. * Allows use of 'electronic' shutter. * Main type of sensor used in video-cameras and in majority of compact digtial cameras and cell-phone (mobile phone) cameras.
