intensity

Definition: (1) Measure of energy, usually light, radiated by a source. * Strictly, intensity (also called 'luminous intensity') is rate of emission of light energy from a point source in a specified direction; unit is the candela (lumen per steradian). (2) Also loosely used to refer to apparent strength of colour as in ink, photograph, monitor colour etc. in a sense roughly equivalent to 'saturation' plus a dash of emotion.
