indirect illumination
Definition: Light on a subject that has undergone one or more reflections between light source and object: in so doing, it takes on some property of the surface from which it is reflected. * E.g. to soften the light from a spot-light it may be bounced off a diffused reflector. * In microscopy, light incident on the object from right angles to the optical axis e.g. in dark-field illumination.
