Definition: Light waves vibrating randomly or not in time with each other. * Absence of fixed phase relationship between light waves. * Note: while heterochromatic light is obviously incoherent, monochromatic light can also be incoherent. * Normal light is highly incoherent; lasers are the only normally encountered coherent light.
