Definition: Condition of eye in which distant objects tend to be focused behind the retina when the lens accommodation is relaxed. The sufferer is unable to focus on nearby objects. * It is corrected by introducing a converging or positive lens of appropriate strength in front of the eye. * Also known as far-sightedness, hyperopia.
