half frame
Definition: Film format measuring nominal 18mm x 24mm. * Also known as single-frame i.e. a frame of 35mm cine film. When small is only cute Half frame was voguish for a short time in the 1960s as it crammed nearly 70 shots onto a standard roll of film using sweet little cameras. But who wants so many pix on a roll? It was never accepted by the mass market. Actually the format was ahead of its time: today's optics and films would be able to make much better use of it but it'd have to compete with APS and digital cameras. Good-bye cutie; sniff.
