grey (gray) component

Definition: That portion of a mix of dyes, inks or phosphor colour that tends to dilute or lower the saturation of colours. * Normally two separation colours in a three-colour system are sufficient to reproduce a given colour: if the third separation colour is present, it tends to reduce the saturation of the overall colour -- lightening colours in an additive system, darkening colours in a substractive system.
