Definition: Image manipulations which change either only brightness values or all colour channels simultaneously by the same amount e.g. changing brightness changes each pixel's brightness value by an identical brightness value, within the range available; change of contrast involves dividing or multiplying all pixels by the same value. * Depending on the colour space in use, change of brightness values may or may not change colour channels.
