fusion

Definition: The neural and central nervous system processes by which two or more stimuli are combined to form a single percept or sensation.
Fusion arts
The concept of fusion is usually applied to two quite distinct visual phenomena. Binocular vision: where two disparate retinal images are perceived as one. Flicker: at a critical frequency, flashes of light or variations in light intensity are perceived as unvarying: obviously this depends on the intensity, the value of the difference between light and dark, etc. Cinematography, video and flourescent lights all depend on fusion to be acceptable.
