Definition: (1) Change or bend in the direction of an optical axis or light-path using prism or mirror assemblies e.g. in binoculars, catadioptric lenses. * Usually used to make system (i.e one with 'folded optics') more compact. (2) A flaw in an optical blank caused by wrinkling the surface during its production.
