Definition: (1) Optic at or near the focal plane designed to collect the light toward an observer or a viewfinder. * In cameras, a Fresnel lens it is usually used. (2) Component of an eyepiece closest to the objective. * So-called because the size of this component decides the field of view of the whole optic.
