Definition: That part of an optical system which relays the image to the eye. * In most systems -- e.g. microscope, telescope -- it magnifies the real image from the objective. * In SLR cameras it provides a magnified view of the focusing screen and forms part of the viewfinder system. * Also known as ocular in viewing instruments.
