equivalent colour temperature

Definition: Light sources that cannot have a colour temperature correlated to them e.g. flourescent or metal halide lamps - with discontinuous spectra - can be assigned an equivalent colour temperature which is that of a standard source whose continuous spectrum produces the same visual effect on a specified film or receptor as the test source.
