drag-and-drop

Definition: Software technology that permits file, selection or similar object to be taken from one program or part of a program to another by the simple mouse action of dragging and dropping the object. * E.g. in some operating systems, it allows a user to print a file by simply dragging the file onto a printer icon; text from a word-processor can be selected, then dropped into a data-base field - an action much used in writing this dictionary.
