Definition: (1) Techniques for converting analogue image into a digital equivalent, namely: a representation of the position of each of a finite number of pixels each with appropriate numerical values. (2) Series of manipulations or analyses applied to a digital image for purpose of correcting image values, applying special effects, preparing for output, for storage or transmission, etc.
