diffraction limited

Definition: Optical system in which all aberrations have been so fully corrected, the only limit to optical performance is diffraction effects. * In practice, a lens is considered diffraction limited where the residual wavefront errors are less than a quarter of the wavelength of a specified radiation. * Many of the top-class, high-speed, long telephoto lenses are practically diffraction-limited optics.
