degaussing

Definition: Process of removing excess static charge that builds up on the outside of CRT (cathode-ray tube) monitors. * On high-resolution, colour-critical monitors, the charge can distort the image and so should be removed regularly - usually on start-up, which is automatic on most modern monitors.
